Retired skill assessments

  • Updated
  • Pluralsight Skills updates our skill assessments on a regular basis. We retire, replace, or version assessments based on certain criteria.

    Skill IQ replacement and retirement

We retire an assessment in one of two ways:

    • Replacing the assessment with a new version
    • Ending the assessment in its entirety

Based on these options, if you take an assessment and it's later retired, your Skill IQ could be affected.

If an assessment is replaced with a new version, you'll need to take the assessment to receive a new Skill IQ. Open the Skill IQ in either your Profile (opens in new tab) or on the Skill IQ page (opens in new tab) to access the new version of the assessment.

If an assessment is retired and is not replaced, you'll continue to see your score in your Profile and your Skill IQ level will still appear in certain analytics. You'll also receive an on-screen message that states the assessment has retired.

    Assessments in beta

We version an assessment when questions need to be updated. It will move back into beta and remain there until the assessment gets updated. The validation period between assessments can vary, depending on the number of learners who take the assessment while it's in beta. You'll need to retake the assessment once it is out of beta to receive a new Skill IQ. Assessments in beta don’t provide a Skill IQ score or level.
