Customization overview
Plans admin can customize Tech Foundations to best suit the needs of their organization. With customization, you can ensure your learners focus on certain topics first by initially hiding other topics. You can also add new topics to your program as they’re published to Tech Foundations. Customization also allows you to change the name and description of your program.
Program customization is available for all Tech Foundations customers, whether Tech Foundations is being used with or without a Skills plan.
Changing program name and description
Important: Upon initial use, you must publish your Tech Foundations program, even if you plan on using all available topics and the standard program name and description. Learners won't have access to program content until you've published the program and assigned licenses from the Directory page
If you are a plan admin, you can change the name of Tech Foundations as well as the description of the program to best suit your organization's needs.
To change the name and description of your program:
- Click Tech Foundations on the Leader Tools menu.
- Click Edit in the top right corner of the program page.
- Update the name and/or description of the program.
- Click Save and publish.
Adding, removing, and re-ordering topics
As an admin, you can hide or show topics available to your learners. This allows your learners to focus on specific topics. You can also change the order of topics in the program, letting you choose which topics your learners see first.
When new topics are published, you'll need to add them to your program and publish for your learners to see and interact with the new topics.
Note: Removing all topics will result in an error message. Your program must have a minimum of one topic to save and publish your program.
- Click Tech Foundations on the Leader Tools menu.
- Click Edit in the top right corner of the program page.
- Click Add & remove topics.
- Click the toggle for each topic you would like to add or remove.
- Click Done.
- Click Save and publish.
New topics
When new topics are added to the Tech Foundations library, admins have the option to add some or all of the new topics to their program. An admin must add new topics and publish their customized program before learners will see the new topics.
Admins are alerted that new topics are available on the Tech Foundations program page. Each new topic is also highlighted with the New tag in the Add and remove topics modal. For plans that already had Tech Foundations when new topics are published, the tag will remain for 90 days after the topic is published by Pluralsight. For plans that purchase Tech Foundations after new topics are published, the tag will remain for 90 days after the start of the subscription.
Learners are alerted to new topics on their homepage in the Tech Foundations widget with each new topic carrying the New tag. Learners also see this tag on the Tech Foundations program page. The tag remains on a topic until 90 days have passed since the topic was added to their program by a plan admin or the learner starts the associated topic video or attempts the assessment, which will replace the tag with In progress.
Provisioning licenses
Important: Learners won't be able to access the program until you publish the program, even if they've received an invite.
After you have set up and published your Tech Foundations program, you'll need to assign licenses for your learners to have access to the program. If you have also purchased licenses for Pluralsight Skills, you can provision licenses for both Tech Foundations and Skills to your learners or you can have your learners focus on one or the other. See Assigning licenses to existing users and Assigning licenses to new users for more information about plan licenses.
