Promotion FAQ

Pluralsight occasionally offers promotional pricing for individual subscriptions and team plans. This article answers the most common questions about promotions and how they work for new and existing customers.

General questions

What information will the Support team need to help me?

When filling out the Support contact form, include the following information in your request:

  • Primary email address on your Pluralsight account, if you already have one
  • Date of purchase
  • Purchase amount
  • Purchase method (Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, etc.)
  • Screenshots of error messages, where applicable

Provide this information in your initial request so Support can work through your issue as efficiently as possible.

If I purchase the promo, will my account renew at the same price?

Not always—some promos are recurring, meaning your subscription will automatically renew at the same price. Others are for one-time use.

If you cancel your subscription, any promotions are removed from your account. If you choose to resubscribe, you’ll be charged the current subscription price.

To understand how a promotion will be applied to your subscription, review the terms and conditions included on the pricing page where you choose your plan, or in the promotion email you received if applicable.

I signed up for an individual trial during a promotion. Will the discount apply to my price if I choose to keep my subscription?

Yes—if you sign up for a trial using an active promotional link or promo code, your trial will automatically convert to a paid account at the promotional price after 10 days, unless you cancel the trial before it ends.

How much will I pay with the discount?

Use the current subscription rates on the pricing page (opens in new tab) to calculate your discount.

Note: Depending on your region, you may be charged taxes and fees that affect your final payment amount.

I missed the promo. Can I still get the cheaper price?

If the promotional window has closed or the promo code has expired, you can’t receive the promotional price. Check out our website (opens in new tab) or sign up for emails (opens in new tab) for the latest news and promotions.

I don’t see any promotions running right now. Can you tell me when the next one will happen?

Pluralsight doesn’t publish a list of future promotions, but you can sign up for emails (opens in new tab) to be notified of new promotions.

I want to buy Gift of Pluralsight for a friend. Is that included in the promotion?

It depends on the promotion. Some promotions discount Gift of Pluralsight, while others are only for individual subscriptions. Gift of Pluralsight purchases can’t be refunded or combined with other promotions.

Checkout and purchase

My card was declined or rejected, but I know I have funds to cover my purchase.

There may be other reasons you are being prevented from purchasing. Contact Support for assistance with card declines. Repeated failed attempts to checkout may result in an automated lockout.

I received the message “unable to change subscription at this time.”

This is most likely because you have a legacy subscription that's already discounted. If you want to use the current promotion, contact Support to terminate your current subscription. Once terminated, legacy subscriptions cannot be reinstated.

I was charged the wrong price for the promotion.

If you believe you’ve been charged the wrong price, first check your purchase invoice for taxes and fees. You should receive an email with a link to your invoice after purchase.

If you can’t find the invoice in your email inbox, you can find it in your Pluralsight account. To access your invoice in Pluralsight:

  1. Sign in to your Pluralsight Skills account (opens in new tab).
  2. Click your avatar in the navigation menu, then click Account settings. This takes you to your Account page (opens in new tab).
  3. Click Subscriptions & Billing.
  4. Click View Payment History.
  5. Click Payment history and then click the PDF icon for the purchase during the promotion.
  6. Review the subtotal/total section at the bottom of your invoice.

Pluralsight is required to collect taxes and fees where applicable. All discounts are applied before taxes and fees, which are assessed from the discounted price. The taxes and fees are then added to the discounted price for your purchase total.

If the discount doesn’t appear before the subtotal, contact Support.


Current subscribers

I’m already a subscriber. Can I renew early to get the promotional discount?

No—if you already have a paid subscription, you can’t renew early to take advantage of a promotion.

I want to upgrade my existing subscription for the promotional price.

If you're interested in upgrading your individual subscription, contact Support. They may be able to provide a prorated refund if you are upgrading before your renewal date.

I subscribed to Pluralsight Skills a few months ago. Can I get refunded the difference now that the price is lower for the same subscription?

No—the promotional price can’t be retroactively applied for existing subscriptions.

I have an existing subscription that renewed during the promotional period. Why is the price not lower?

Most promotions are for new subscriptions only. Some promotions offer a discount to upgrade an existing subscription.

I purchased a subscription during a previous promotion. If I buy during the current promo, will it combine with my current discount?

No—promotions cannot be combined.

Are team plans eligible for promotions?

Yes—team plans are eligible for certain promotions. However, you can’t redeem a promo code for an active or expired team plan that already exists. Team plan promotions are only applicable to new plans purchased online.

I can’t remember my password to add the promo to my existing account.

I purchased a subscription during the last promotion that I’m still using. Do I need to go through checkout again to purchase a new promotion to keep my current price?

It depends on the promotion—some automatically renew, while others only last for one billing cycle. If you have questions about a promotion, reach out to our Support team.
