Subjects are based on the content of a given course. Subjects analytics provides insight into trends within your team and organization. Spotting these trends can help you drive progress within a given skillset, ensuring that your team's progress aligns with your strategic or development objectives.

What you can do
Subjects analytics gives insight into how your team is interacting with trending subjects. These analytics help you:
- Gain visibility into course usage
- Spot trends within your team based on subject
- Dive into specific courses that your team views
Web report
To get started:
- Click Analytics in the left navigation panel.
- Click the Subjects tab in the top center panel.
Subjects analytics includes two views:
- The default view is the All-subjects dashboard.
- When you click a particular subject, you'll see its Subject page dashboard.
All-subjects dashboard
The All-subjects dashboard provides high-level subjects analytics data.

- The Overview gives you a snapshot of subject usage within your team. The data fields include:
- Unique subjects
- Average users per subject
- Average view time/subject
- Top subjects shows the number of unique users for your team's top subjects.
- You can customize both the web and CSV reports with the date range filter.
- You can customize both the web and CSV reports with the teams filter. To view unassigned users, make sure all teams are deselected.
- You can filter the web report by entering a keyword or phrase. This does NOT filter the CSV report.
- You can download a CSV report of your analytics data (discussed below).
- The Subjects table shows details for the subjects your team has engaged with. Clicking a specific subject opens its Subject page dashboard (discussed below). You can click any of the labels to sort by that field, and click again to toggle between ascending and descending. The data fields include:
Subject page dashboard
The Subject page dashboard provides deeper insight into a selected subject. Click any subject in the All-subjects dashboard to jump to its Subject page dashboard.

- The Overview gives you high-level details of the selected subject. The data fields include:
- Total users
- Total view time
- Avg view time per user
- Popularity rank
- Subject usage shows the number of users interacting with the subject over the specified time frame. Hovering over a data point reveals detailed user totals.
- You can customize both the web and CSV reports with the date range filter.
- You can customize both the web and CSV reports with the teams filter. To view unassigned users, make sure all teams are deselected.
- You can filter the web report by entering a keyword or phrase. This does NOT filter the CSV report.
- You’ll find two tables below the Overview and Subject usage sections. Click the [subject} users and [subject] courses tabs to view the respective tables.
User table
The user table lists subject activity by individual users. Click any of the column labels to sort by that field, and click again to toggle between ascending and descending.
The data fields for each user include:
Beside each user's record, you can click the caret to expand or hide the user drawer. The drawer includes a detailed list of the user's interactions with courses related to the selected subject.

Courses table
The courses table lists course activity related to the subject. Click any of the column labels to sort by that field, and click again to toggle between ascending and descending.

Beside each course's record, you can click the caret to expand or hide the course drawer. The drawer includes a detailed list of users who have interacted with the course.

Tip: You can use subjects analytics to create specific channels for a particular subject. This will help target learning within your team and allow you to track how they're progressing.
CSV report
View more details about your subjects analytics with the CSV report download. To download the CSV, click the download icon next to the filter search bar.

Data fields for the report include:
- Subject
- AccountName
- TeamName (blank if not assigned)
- First name of learner
- Last name of learner
- Email of learner
- Note
- TotalHours
Common questions
Does subjects analytics show all the learners on my team?
The data only shows users that are currently active on your team plan. See How analytics data follows learners for more information.
Can a course show up in more than one subject?
Yes. Since courses can sometimes touch on multiple topics, they will be listed in multiple subjects.
