What is the Video Player?

The video player delivers course content and lets you control settings for autoplay, subtitles, and playback speed. Our video player is based on HTML5, so it will not need any specific software installed on your computer. We do not support Flash at this time. To use our HTML5 player, you'll need a recent version of the following browsers: Internet Explorer 11, Microsoft Edge, Chrome, FireFox, or Safari.

Tip: If you use Internet Explorer, make sure you're not using Compatibility mode.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts can be used to control playback settings for the video player. To view the available keyboard shortcuts, click the Settings icon in the control bar. Then click the Keyboard Shortcuts option. 

Autoplay

The autoplay setting can be enabled to allow for continuous playback of course content. To turn autoplay on or off, click the Settings icon in the right hand corner of the control bar, which appears when you hover over the bottom of the player. Then click the On or Off option in the Settings menu.

Subtitles

We currently have closed captions for just over 50% of our courses. You'll notice that the majority of our IT Ops and Developer content has closed captioning, while much of our creative content does not. To determine whether a course has closed captions, look for the gray "cc" icon to the right of course titles when browsing through different course categories.

We're working hard to add closed captions to all of our new courses, but it's a lengthy process. If you have a specific request for closed captions for a course, please let us know at support@pluralsight.com and we can expedite the request for you.

To switch the language of your or closed captioning, click on the CC icon in the control bar, then click the language drop-down menu as shown below.

Then, you will be able to select the desired language as shown below. The courses are only transcribed in English and the translation to the different languages are provided by Google Translate. Click here for a list of Google Translate's available languages.

Playback Speed

You can toggle your video playback speeds from x.5 to x2.0.  To do this, click on the speed icon in the right corner of the control bar and select the desired speed.  

Troubleshooting Video Playback

Using the Video Checkup tool, you can diagnose your connection and identify reasons you may be experiencing difficulty with video playback. Click here to use the Video checkup tool.

Note: These steps are for troubleshooting video playback on desktop browsers. If you're having issues on the Pluralsight Mobile App or Offline Player, click here.

Most buffering issues on the Pluralsight.com video player can be resolved by using a supported browser without any active extensions or add-ons on your browser. Some browser extensions interfere with video playback. If you don't see any improvement, please try another browser. 

You should have a minimum of 2 mbps available to you for watching Pluralsight videos to avoid buffering. If you have less, we recommend using the Pluralsight offline player.

Advanced troubleshooting

If the previous steps did not resolve the issue, you can perform some advanced troubleshooting by using your browser’s diagnostic tool and sending our Support team the results. To run your browser’s diagnostics tool:

  1. Open our video player in your desktop browser, then open your browser's diagnostic tools (F12 or CMD-OPTION-I on Mac)

  2. Go to the console tab, then reload or refresh the page.

  3. Take a screenshot of any errors that shown up under the console tab.

  4. Navigate to the network tab, refresh again, and take another screenshot.

  5. Please note, you will have to refresh the page to get the network tab to populate.

  6. Please email us at support@pluralsight.com with those screenshots and information, and we can look into this further for you.

Feature or Course Feedback

There are a couple ways to give feedback.

The easiest way to submit feedback or suggestions is by using our Support widget. To locate our Support widget, look for the question mark (?) icon at the bottom-left corner of Pluralsight. This opens a form in which to send your suggestions and feedback.

Note: If you do not see the Support widget, we're sorry about this! Ad-block extensions may be blocking this tool from showing.

Making sure your feedback gets heard

  • Request support now: For immediate assistance, especially around billing issues.

  • Provide content feedback: Give feedback or report an issue on the video content, instructor, or exercise files in a course. You can also provide feedback on Skill IQ questions here.

  • Provide new feature suggestions: Suggest a new feature within the Pluralsight platform or apps, to our product teams.

  • Provide website feedback: Give us feedback on the platform's functionality and the functionality of features, like Skill IQ, Channels, and our apps. If your feedback isn't tied to the content of our courses, use this option to communicate with our product teams. General website feedback is welcome, too.

  • Provide new content suggestions: Know of an area we should develop courses, paths, or Skill IQ assessments for? Let us know in this option. We'd be happy to take a look and pass these course suggestions off to our content teams.

We really value feedback and work very closely with our content and product teams to make sure your feedback reaches the right people. We may reach out to you for clarification, but most feedback won't receive a personal response.
