Content availability

  • Updated
  • Pluralsight Skills hosts a wide range of content covering in-demand technology topics. Our authors and content teams work diligently to ensure that the courses, hands-on experiences, paths, and assessments in our libraries represent the cutting edge of the tech space.

In this article, we’ll cover tips on how to find the learning resources you’re looking for and how content is maintained.

    New content

We publish new, high-quality content on Skills almost daily. Use the search bar in Skills to discover new content, or go to the Browse all page (opens in new tab) to view your entire library.

    To discover new content:

    1. Sort your search results by Newest.
    2. Be on the lookout for any content labeled New throughout Skills. This indicates the content was published in the last six months.
    3. The date shown in search results is the date a piece of content was last reviewed, updated, or created.
    4. Further filter your results by things like content type, topic, and job role.

Tip: If you’re interested in new content published by a specific author, click the author’s name and follow them to receive in-app and email notifications about new releases. You can manage these updates in your communication preferences (opens in new tab).

    New Skill IQs

If a Skill IQ assessment is marked as Beta, this means we’re still collecting data to calibrate the assessment for accuracy. See Introduction to Skill IQ for details.

    Updated content

Keeping our existing content fresh is a priority, and we regularly review and update courses, labs, paths, and assessments with new information.

Even if a popular course was first published years ago, we maintain it to include the latest version or release of a technology or product, or to keep up with how the course topic has changed over time.

The date shown on content throughout Skills, such as in search results and on the course details page, indicates the most recent date the course was published, reviewed and verified to be up-to-date, or updated with new material.

    Retired content

In addition to constantly releasing new content, we retire older content to help you focus your learning on current technology. Content on Skills is typically retired for one or more of the following reasons:

    • New content has been created to replace it.
    • There’s another piece of content in our library that better fulfills that need.
    • The technology the content relates to is obsolete.
    • The content is outdated.

We recognize, however, that there may be times when retired content may be valuable for the legacy platforms you support. You can use the Show retired results toggle in your search query results to show or hide retired content, helping you skill up in the areas that best meet your individual needs.

Important: Retired content is no longer supported or maintained, and may be removed from Skills without warning. If you’re a plan admin or team manager, we don’t recommend using this content when building your learners’ curriculum.

    Retired course content

If a course has been retired, you’ll see a notification banner on the details page, and a link to a newer version if one exists.

Retired content is still visible in your learning history, paths, and channels, but it doesn’t appear in standard search results. You can still generate a certificate of completion for retired content. And if you’re on a team plan, retired content will still appear in the analytics data your leaders can see.

Note: Replacing retired content in channels decreases the channel completion rate for learners who have already completed the older content but not yet completed the new version. If you’re a plan admin or team manager, be sure to notify your learners if you want them to complete the new version.

Role IQ and Skill IQ retirement

Just like courses, we regularly maintain roles and skill assessments. When a role is retired, admins and team managers will no longer see that Role IQ under the Pluralsight tab on the Role IQ admin page, making it unavailable to use as a template. Data from retired Role IQs remains available for leaders in analytics. Learners assigned to a retired role will remain assigned to that role.

Retired skill assessments will appear in historical data, but can’t be taken after retirement. See Retired skill assessments for details.

    Suggesting course content

We're always open to feedback on how we can provide content to meet your changing needs. If you have any suggestions for new content—small or large—let us know. We’re also interested to hear what you want to see more of in courses, labs, paths, and assessments. If there’s a topic or technology you don’t see covered, contact our Support team with your suggestion—it could be that we’re working on something already.

In Skills, click the gear icon in the video player and click Send feedback to provide feedback while playing a specific course. In ACG, you can send feedback from within any lesson by clicking the thumbs up/thumbs down icons. You can also use our contact form to submit feedback about content in Skills or ACG.

What courses do I have access to?

All paid plans have access to our Core tech library, which covers content on software development, IT ops, business skills, and more. Depending on your plan or license type, you may have access to domain-specific libraries with content on AI, data, security, and cloud. Visit the Browse all page (opens in new tab) to see and filter all content included in your library.

Tip: If you’re on a team plan and you’re not sure what license(s) your organization has assigned to you, reach out internally to your plan admin or team manager.
