Analytics by learner gives you a learner-centric view of your team's Pluralsight usage. As a plan admin, you can view the analytics for all learners on your plan. As a team manager, you can view the analytics for members of any direct teams that you manage.
Important: This article describes features in the new analytics page. If your plan uses legacy analytics, please see Users & Usage analytics instead.
Not sure which version of analytics your plan is using? Please see Phased release of new analytics to learn more.
Navigating the page
From the Leader navigation pane, click Analytics (opens in new tab). If not already selected, click By learner.
All learners view
The All learners view contains a Teams filter and a Search table box to help you quickly find a specific learner in the table. A summary of your current filter selection is displayed below the filter for quick reference (blank if none selected).
Below the filter is a table listing your learners. Click a learner to show their Learner analytics view.
Learner analytics view
The Learner analytics view shows the same information learners can see on their individual Learner analytics and history page. Click All learners if you wish to return to the All learners view.
The Learner analytics view contains similar information to Analytics by learning type. The main distinction is that here, your view is filtered to a single learner's data.
The first section of the Learner analytics view contains the filters. A summary of your current filter selections is displayed below the filters for quick reference.
The information displayed on the rest of the page depends on your selection in the Learning type filter.
All learning types
Selecting All learning types displays data and visualizations of two key time-based metrics:
-
Learning time: Actual time spent across the following learning types:
- Practice exams
- Hands-on labs
- Skill IQ
- Video clips
-
Practice time: Time spent with open-ended playground environments, including:
- Sandboxes
- Cloud server
Note that the following learning types are not included in either of the above metrics:
- Certifications: Displays industry certifications the learner has manually uploaded—does not represent time spent on the Pluralsight platform
- Prompt sandbox: Displays number of prompts completed rather than time spent
Below the visualizations is the History table. This shows the learner's complete history and ignores your selection in the Timeframe filter. See Understanding the data (below) for a listing of data.
Individual learning types
Selecting one of the individual learning types displays data specific to that learning type. See Understanding the data (below) for a listing of data for each learning type.
Each of these views includes an overview section showing key high-level metrics. Keep in mind that this data—as well as the data in the table that follows—is specific to the filters you have set.
Below the overview is a table listing the learner's interactions with content from the selected learning type. Depending on your screen resolution, you may need to scroll horizontally to see all columns of the table. If any entry in the table is truncated due to column width, you can hover your mouse over it to see the full text. The Search table box helps you quickly find a specific entry in the table.
You can continue to drill down for more detail by clicking the table entries until you get to a particular piece of content. This view shows you the individual tasks included in that piece of content.
Filtering the data
Several filters let you customize your view of the analytics data. The All learners view includes the Teams filter. The Learner analytics view includes the Learning type and the Timeframe filters.
As you move between views on the analytics page, your filter selections are remembered, even if they don’t apply to the current view. However, if you leave the analytics page (including visiting Tech foundations analytics) and come back to it, the filters reset to their default states.
Teams filter
From the All learners view, click Filters to set a team filter. Select one or more teams to filter your view to only their data. Click Apply after making your selection, or Cancel to abort.
Leave this filter blank (all checkboxes unchecked) to view all learners, including those not assigned to teams. Click Clear to quickly deselect all checkboxes.
Learning type filter
From the Learner analytics view, use the Learning type filter to view data specific to a certain learning type, or select All learning types for a comprehensive view of the selected user's learning.
Learning types include:
Timeframe filter
From the Learner analytics view, click Filters to set a timeframe filter. Click Apply after making your selection, or Cancel to abort.

Understanding the data
The data displayed on the By learner page depends on your selections in the filters—particularly the Learning type filter. Some data fields are only found in the lower-level views.
Let's look at what data is available for each learning type.
